Hi, I’m Ashlyn!

I'm a writer and editor based in the Denver area.

For as long as I can remember, I've loved to read and wanted to create books. I can trace my interest in writing to the backseat of my Grandma's car when I was around eight. We were en route to her weekly hair appointment and I wrote my first story in a tiny Hello Kitty notebook. That is my first memory of feeling proud of something I created. I didn't quite understand the publishing process at the time, but I think that’s where it all began for me.

When it came time to decide on a career path, I chose to study English. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Leadership Studies. While in school, I worked for the university's Writing Center. I got to spend my days reading papers and helping students improve their writing. This really solidified the editing dream for me.

After college, I gained experience in various writing mediums through freelance work: blogs, emails, social media copy, podcast show notes, and press releases. While I enjoyed my time as a freelance writer, I knew that my big dream was still to edit books. So I attended the Denver Publishing Institute at the University of Denver. I was fortunate to learn about all sides of the industry, meet inspiring publishing professionals, and further develop my editing skills! It was an amazing time of both personal and professional growth for me, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without that experience.

  • I'm married to my other half, and we have a tortoiseshell cat named Toki (who is our primary form of entertainment).

  • I have a special love for the dedication and acknowledgements sections. (Did I mention I’m a major weeper? Name that movie…)

  • My favorite book growing up was Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.

  • A few of my favorite books of all time are The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, Magic Lessons by Alice Hoffman, and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrows.
